A: The ACR30U reader is a PC/SC standard smart card reader. Any smart card software that uses the PC/SC standard for accessing the reader will be able to access the reader on your USB port. If you have software that requires a particular COM port, then the software is most likely direct serial communications only. The ACR30 can not be used with direct serial communications applications. The only smart card reader that we carry that is capable of direct serial communications is the Dual Crystal smart card reader.
